My 10-Year Plan
Ten years from now, I hope to be a well-established cybersecurity professional with a solid reputation for dependability, problem-solving, and strong technical skills. Cybersecurity is a field that never stops growing, so one of my long-term goals is to stay adaptable and continue learning no matter how much experience I gain. I want to understand not only the technical challenges of cyber threats but also how to communicate clearly, work well under pressure, and help others stay safe online. These skills are just as important as knowing how to configure a firewall or analyze a security alert.
By the time I reach ten years in my career, I hope to be leading or contributing to major cybersecurity projects. This could include investigating cyber incidents, strengthening network defenses, performing vulnerability assessments, or helping plan long-term security strategies for an organization. I also want to earn certifications such as Security+, CySA+, or even CISSP once I have the necessary experience. These certifications would not only help me grow professionally but also show that I am serious about protecting the people and organizations I work with. Another long-term goal is to mentor new students or entry-level employees who are getting started in cybersecurity as I am now. I know from experience how much support can mean in the beginning, and I want to pass that forward.
Outside of work, I hope to maintain a sense of balance. In ten years, I want to stay connected with my family, continue enjoying my hobbies like drawing and gaming, and stay healthy both mentally and physically. I believe success is strongest when your personal life grows along with your career. My goal is to build a future where I’m confident in my abilities, secure in my career, and still the same grounded person I am today.
